How autosomal.ai works
Try it with your photoHow to use it
- 01
Tap Choose File to upload a photo, or Camera to take a selfie.
- 02
The AI finds your face, lines it up and analyzes it. This takes a second or two.
- 03
See your estimated age, gender and the world regions your face resembles most.
For the best results use a sharp, well-lit photo where you face the camera, with no filters or sunglasses.
Free AI face analyzer
autosomal.ai is a free face analysis tool that looks at a single photo and tells you three things: how old you look, which gender the AI sees, and what ethnicity or region you look like. It finds the face in your picture, straightens it, and runs it through open research models. Use the camera on your phone or laptop, or upload a JPG, PNG or WebP photo.
How the AI guesses your age
Wondering "how old do I look?" This AI age guesser estimates your age from a photo of your face. It uses MiVOLO v2, an age-estimation model trained on hundreds of thousands of labelled faces, which looks at the whole face (and your body, if it is visible) to give a single age number plus a breakdown by age range.
On clear, front-facing photos the guess is usually within a few years. Strong filters, heavy make-up, dim lighting, sunglasses or a tilted head can push it off by ten years or more, so try a couple of photos and compare.
How the AI gender check works
This gender detector looks at a face photo and reports whether the AI model reads it as male or female, along with how confident it is. It is the same kind of classifier used in face-filter and "gender swap" apps, and it runs on MiVOLO v2 together with an age estimate.
The result describes how a face looks to a model trained on photos, not who someone is. It can't know anyone's gender identity, and androgynous styles, make-up and camera angles easily change the answer.
How the "you look like" ethnicity guess works
Curious what ethnicity or race you look like? This AI compares your face with faces from 14 world regions, from Sub-Saharan Africa and the Horn of Africa to Central Asia, the Americas and the Pacific, and shows a percentage for each. It starts from a CLIP model trained on the balanced FairFace dataset and keeps learning from people who share their DNA results or family background.
It's just for fun. A photo shows appearance, not DNA, so it can't tell your ancestry, nationality or heritage, and mixed or less common looks are often labelled wrong. For real ancestry results you need a DNA test.
